"Precious Gift" is a wonderful collection of some of Diane's favorite Christmas songs. Her fresh interpretations of these classics are done in a variety of styles from swinging jazz and blues arrangements to gospel tinged rock and Latin calypso. Diane is backed by some of Denver's most accomplished musicians. Most notable is jazz piano virtuoso Justin Adams who brings a bluesy New Orleans influenced reinterpretation to Jingle Bells, classic swing on Santa Baby and Angels We Have Heard on High, Diane's tribute to Ella. Also not to be missed is their moving performance of Wonderful World, perhaps the standout cut of the set and a showcase for Diane's beautiful voice. Diane's band, One Bare Foot, backs her up on several numbers including a vampy fun version of Mister Grinch, a rocked out Joy To the World, and the Latin calypso inspired I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day. The piano stylings of Candace Lacey also abound on such Christmas staples as Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The Christmas Song, and O'Holy Night. Other special guests include old friend Jamin' Chuck Jansen on guitar, George Makolandra on tenor sax, Yong Bakos on electric piano and organ, good friends Dana and Blake Clay and family helping out on vocals and percusion.
If you love Diane's voice, great piano accompaniment, and hip swinging arrangements of classic Christmas music, this is a must have for the holiday's. Get you're copy today. Listen to selections from it now on the Music page.
